Much better night at work, I quite enjoyed most of it. A little rushed at times, but not bad.

Going to see "The Corporation" tonight...suppose to be a god doco on...uh, corporations. Looking forward to that.

I love this Sandwich maker I bought. I've used them before, but never owned one...it's always been my roommate, or flatmate in the case of Margot, who's owned it. Couple slices of bread, piece of cheese and I like to add some of my homemade pasta sauce or maybe a few slices of salami or pepperoni....mmmmmm-m. I love how it seals the edges and it all melts and crisps up very quickly. It's a little messy...the cheese usually breaks through the break in some places...but it's all worth it.

My griddle is pretty wicked too...I've made pancakes several times now...perfect every time. Much better than the old "suppose to be non-stick but isn't" frying pan on the uncontollable heat of the stove.

Tree said she wanted to go to the movie with us...but she's sleeping. Should I wake her up??? Ya, I think so...

Ugh, what a hellish night at work. I can't even really say what made it helllish...when you look back at it it wasn't that bad I guess...but I just felt, as I was going through it, that it wasn't going all the smoothly. I got pretty much everything I needed to get done, done. A couple things broke, a few things went wrong and although they were pretty much out of my control I feel as though they were my fault. Tonight will be better. I strive for flawless shifts and I haven't had them for a couple nights so tonight will be.

On the drive home I got to thinking about things that are seeming to define this decade. As with most decades, there seems to be things in our lives and environment and pop culture that define the decade and set it apart from others. So, here's a list of things that seem to have defined the decades I have lived in;

70s (I wasn't in this decade too long): Disco, Bell-bottoms, Empowered Women
80s: Keyboards, AIDS, Hot Pink
90s: Rap, Internet
00s: Reality TV, Atkins

Ok, it's a pretty lame list...I thought I had more. Maybe I'll add onto it more. Feel free to send me your suggestions.

I like working graveyard shifts. I plug away at my own pace and can usually get a fair bit done. It's lonely, but without the company all there is to do is work (or watch TV...which in my case, can be considered work). I'm more tired today, but not too much.

I'm finding out that I have some family members that read my posts here on a regular basis, as well as friends and maybe even a few strangers who have come across it. Knowing that family members are reading has caused me to not be as open as I may want to be, but I try to speak my mind as much as I feel comfortable. It's weird how I could write something if I knew only strangers would be reading it...but if it's people I know I feel like I should hold back. Maybe it's not that weird. This weblog is here to represent me and keep the people I know updated on my happenings, my thoughts, and my feelings. Hopefully it's entertaining and informative.

I thought I was going somewhere with that, but I think I got lost. Anyway, I'll leave it up...maybe it makes sense. I like that you enjoy reading my posts (I assume you do, otherwise you're just snoopin').

Sleep is coming, I must go. That's probably why I'm babbling.

So, went to this bonfire party on Saturday night which I was sorta thinkin' would suck, but it ended up being pretty cool and enjoyable. I didn't drink and got to drive Tree's Pathfinder home as the DD...that was pretty cool. If I wasn't such a wuss it probably would have been an even better night, but let's face it, I'm a dork and I know pretty much nothing about women.

It's weird, I just came home off a night shift, plus I didn't get much sleep the day prior, yet I'm not that tired. I'll have to go to bed soon.

You know who's cool? Choy. I admire the guy...he knows how to live life properly. He seems to have goals and he achieves them and he's made some good decisions. He's a good guy. That's not a knock to my other friends...they're all quite cool and many have done some good things in life and lived well. I'm just focusing on Choy here...he is my roomie after all.

Oh, I forgot to mention this in my last post, but a big congratulations to Q and S who got engaged whilst in Korea. I knew it would happen one day and hey, there's one wedding in the gang this summer, why not make it 2, eh? I'm gonna be so broke...kidding. I'm happy for them. Way to go Q!

'Tis a gorgeous day on Vancouver Island. Sara was visiting...we walked on the spit, then Choy and Tree and Sara and I all went out to Sandcut beach. It was very nice, not too windy or cold (I survived in shorts and a t-shirt quite comfortably), big waves rolling in. We just bummed around. I balanced 5 rocks on top of one another...I was very impressed with myself. I shoulda had brought my camera, so next time for sure I will. There's some wicked pictures to be taken there. It was good to see Sara.

Timmy was also out this week, he's heading back to the land down under, but not New Zealand this time, it's Australia. He visited for a few days and it was good to see him again. Played some cards, I kicked his ass at chess twice. It was fun. I hope he does well in Aussie.

I'm still workin' lots, which is good. Got a weeks worth of night shifts coming up.

I'm gonna keep this one short, but I feel a long post coming soon...

Take it as a good sign...if I'm not posting frequently like I've been promising, then I'm working, which I have been doing a fair bit lately. And lots of work is good cause I needa tha moula. Now, I gotta go to work...

Mental Note: Don't go shopping at Western Foods on Thursday...it's seniors day. While I have nothing against seniors, it's a bit crowded and slow going when it's their day at the grocery store. Best to just let them have their time. I was standing in line waiting to check out and I debated letting the little old lady behind me go ahead...but then I thought, with the store full of little old ladies, I'll set a precedent and then where do I draw the line? So I just carried on through. I didn't have that much stuff anyways, plus I was using a carry cart, whereas she had a full wheeled cart.

Why don't they have prices on every item in the produce section? Every grocery store I go into, there's always some items that are sitting out there, but there's no price. Sometime the price is located way far away from where the items are located, but other times it's just not there. What's up with that? I mean sure, I want to buy the carrots and I probably will buy them regardless of the price, but I'd still like to know what it is...just because. It's not like they don't have the room to put the price card...there's lotsa room in those produce sections.

What a gorgeous day.

Met up with ACPers to celebrate our ACPness on Saturday night. Good times, good times.

Reality TV...I rarely watch it. I'm watching Fear Factor right now...the couples one. I do enjoy Fear Factor, and this couples version has some cute chicks in it. Fear Factor is one of the few "reality" shows I'd take part in if the opportunity arose. The Amazing Race would be cool too.

BTW, in case you're keeping score, the klingon in my toilet - it's gone.

I don't know why, but it bothers me when someone, who I think of as relatively intelligent, misspells a word. I'm not referring to anyone specific here, just lately I've noticed some spelling errors in communique with some people and it just makes me feel...different about them for some reason. It's no big deal, I know...And I'm sure I misspell things sometimes too. I'm just weird like that I guess.

I picked up Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure for $9 at A&B Sound the other day (also got Ronin for $9)...gotta love a good DVD deal. Watch B&T last night and enjoyed it...such a classic of my generation and a very fitting Role for Keanu Reeves. Alex Winter didn't go on to too much fame, but he did a few movies I've seen. The dude who plays Napoleon is the same dude who is in the tub watching The Truman Show.

I'm falling back into my old routine here...I gotta keep on top of this thing, I'm falling behind. More frequent posts, yes, it will be done.

Couple days ago I got bombarded with the latest virus emails. Up until then I had not received any, yet friends and colleagues of mine had told me of the huge number of emails they had received containing the evil attachment. I don't know why it took so long to get to me, nor do I know how it eventually did...looking at the properties of some of the emails it was weird to see where they were coming from...cause they'd be places I knew about, but did not have in my address book or had I ever emailed, nor did I think that the originator had my email address in their address book. Whatever. They've stopped now. PC-Cillin protected me from them all anyway.

I'm on a milkshake kick these days. Good thing Choy has a blender. Butterscotch Ripple ice cream, a mushy banana, a bit of milk, and some chocolate shavings...mmmmmm. Had to buy some more bananas and milk today just to keep it up!

Got some new toys the other day. Well, sorta toys...I don't really play with them, but it's fun to get new stuff just like getting toys. Got a couple lamps for my bedroom (the set was half price). Also got those energy efficient fluorescent bulbs for them (and for my bathroom), got a sandwich toaster (those things are so cool), and an electric griddle (wicked for pancakes and so much more). Couple other things rounded out my shopped spree at Canada's own big block multi-purpose store - Canadian Tire.

There's a little piece of shit clinging to the porcelain in my toilet just above the water line. It doesn't want to go, but it will...sometime. Which reminded me of a moment from a few years ago, which brings me to pull out the first installment of...

Great moments in roommate history:

I was living on Louise Place in Victoria with Chadders. We shared the basement suite in this house with friends (at the time), Karen and Ron, living upstairs. One of use (probably me) had left a piece of shit on the porcelain, much like the one in my toilet today. Both being young guys not concerned with the cleanliness of our toilet bowl, we never bothered to wipe the piece off. Instead, we worked on pissing it off. Both working independently and without knowledge that each other's goal was the same (meaning the piece of shit was never spoken of) we worked away at aiming our urine stream at the klingon every chance we got. Several days later, Chadders emerged from the latrine, arms raised above his head and a victorious smile claimed his face. He informed me that the piece of shit had finally met it's match and had been pissed cleanly off of the beige porcelain. It was at that time that I realized our goal had been the same and that we were totally in sync as roommates. It was truly a great moment in roommate history!

I'll try to think of more great moments in roommate history for future posts. Feel free to share your moments with me as well.

Busy weekend, first ferry yesterday to go visit the grandparents in Burnaby, work today, then gave Q a tour of the station which I think he enjoyed. Looks like work all week, but not fully sure yet. Watched the movie Trapped last night. Quite enjoyable and fairly well done. Some scenes shot on Vancouver Island, I always love that!
