I got me a hat trick and then one last night at soccer! I opened up the scoring with a lovely redirect that schooled the Yeech into the right side of the net. Goal #2 was similar. The opposing team did come back with something of a vengeance and it remained close. I started the scoring and I ended it too...with another lovely (although sorta flukey) redirect. In the end I believe the score was tied or possibly the other team was up by one. Not that it matters...we don't really keep score.

All this scoring I've had lately is not really because I'm becoming more skilled. I still miss a lot of chances. I had some beautiful opportunities last night and I missed them by a foot or 2 because my aim was off. One great chance hit the post. Mostly I'm getting all these goals cause I'm cherry pickin'. Don't get me wrong, I run the field and play D occasionally...but I do find myself in front of the net alot. And when you're in front of the net, you get more chances to score, and that's how it works for me.

Good thing we only play for fun and no one cares about offsides.

I have no balls.

I saw a weird shaped woman on Sunday. I was at Juan de Fuca to watch my dad play softball, and as we were leaving this woman was getting out of a car beside us and I couldn't help but notice something of an irregularity in her figure. Her top half was somewhat slim and normal, and from her feet to her knees looked quite normal...but she had a real lumpy ass and thighs. It was something I'd never seen before. Her ass just bubbled out of the back end of her pants and dribbled down to her knees. She wasn't fat, except for that one area. It was very strange indeed. I'm not knockin' her...I know bodies come in all shapes and sizes...I'm just saying it was unusual. It looked somewhat uncomfortable. Horse riding pants would fit her well.

While I'm on the topic of bubble butts...I know I may not have the tightest ass, but I know it's not huge either (now my gut, that's a different story). But have you noticed how big some people's asses can get? It's unreal when you actual stop and look. First off, I usually can't believe they are able to find underwear and pants to fit around an ass that size...I mean sometimes it's more than twice as wide as an average human ass. I just don't know how an ass gets that big. I sit on mine quite a bit...ok, a lot...and it's not that big...at least I hope it's not. Maybe it's because it's part of me and behind me and I'm used to it...maybe my ass is huge and I'm just not aware or in denial or something. Would someone please tell me if my ass is overly huge?

I'm 30% gay...6% straighter than Q & Rol, and 3% straighter than Tim-man and Battle.

Well, did I ever feel like a tool yesterday?

I left the gate to the backyard open after my morning run so that I could ride straight out when I left for work on my bike. So when I went to leave for work, I rode my bike ride from the back yard, intending to go through the open gate and pull it closed as I passed through. I've done it several times before. Except this time the wind has partially closed the gate so that there wasn't a lot of room to get around it. If I had ridden slowly and manouevered well, it wouldn't have been a problem. But for some reason I didn't and I came up on it way too fast, only realizing it wasn't going to work when I was right at the gate. As I attempted to manouever around the gate, I slammed the back of my shoulder into the post on the latch side. It hurt. I felt embarrassed and sore...luckily no one has seen me do it though. I limped beyond the gate and continued on my way to work.

Today my shoulder is still somewhat sore and there's a decent bruise.

Once again I rocked out with my cock out (ok, my cock wasn't really out) at soccer last night. I must have scored at least five goals. I started the scoring with a left footed goal, which was amazing as I'm right footed and have no power or accuracy with my left. It was pretty much an accident, but it's still a goal and I claimed it as such. I think I musta psyched the Yeech out with it coming off my left foot (not that he really knew which foot I normally kick with). We had an excellent turnout of 13 people and the game was a gooder.

Had my first shift with the Battle last night...he's my new partner on prime time because Yeech went to be a traffic chick. I think it will work out with Battle...we don't have any issues with each other.

I don't think I'm going to see that recent lavalife chick again. We went out a couple times, and got along fine...but there was no spark really. She's nice enough and there's nothing wrong with her...I just don't see it going anywhere. I'm a loner, and if I'm gonna come out of my lonerdom, there's gonna have to be sparks flying every which way but loose (actually, let's include loose in there as well).

I'm likin' Faith No More these days...I didn't really know their stuff much until a couple months ago...now I just love it.

It's amazing that I'm not hung over today.

Heather and her boyfriend Brent were in town yesterday. I haven't seen her in almost 2 years, but we're in touch via email on a fairly regular basis. We had some dinner at Spinnakers, and Sara came so that I could introduce 2 of my best friends to one another. They got along well.

Afterwards I showed them my pad, and we watched the Camosun Today 'Seven Deadly Sins" show that I was involved in producing during college...they seemed to enjoy it. Then I got them setup in a hotel...although I thought it was gonna be cheap, but it wasn't so cheap (it's cheap(er) in the off season). They didn't seem to object to the cost. We spent most of the rest of the evening on the roof of the Sticky Wicket, downing jug afer jug of Grasshopper. The conversation was good, ranging from movies to politics, and friends to personal creativity projects. They told me about their experience in the 48 hour film festival, and I'd really like to take part and be involved in one. I told them some of my story ideas I've come up with over the past few years...story ideas I intend to write a novel or script for one day (I hope).

After last call (which is midnight on Monday...apparently (maybe always on the rooftop)), we wandered around downtown and the inner harbour for a bit, then made our way back to their hotel. I was in no shape to drive, and they offered to let me stay in their room on the other bed (king size beds too!)...so I crashed with them until about 7am...then found my car and went home for more sleep.

It was a good visit with them and Brent seems like a very good guy (first time I've met him). I'm glad they stopped into town to see me, and I'm glad I took the night off for it.

Sounds like I took the right night off from work...device servers crashed and switchers went down...it seems like all hell broke loose!

It's been an expensive weekend...I will not be spending money for a while.

Home sweet home...

This past weekend was a road trip to Westbank/Kelowna for the wedding of someone I barely know. Court's sister, Leah, got married and us crew from the island were invited (by Court, 2 weeks before the wedding). Leah is 18, and I'm not going to get into my thoughts on marriage at 18...just know that I don't think it's all that smart an idea (but that's me).

So friday morning, Rol, Tree, and I headed out in the ole P5 (Q&S, Choy, and Michelle would follow later in the Corolla). We aimed for the 11am ferry and actually caught it! Sara and Ross were on the boat (not headed for the wedding though) and we ate brunch with them in the Pacific Buffet. The buffet was a bit of a let down...there were some weird items (like fish), and some items you'd expect for brunch (like hashbrowns) were not present. I fueled up on sausages, onions rings, chicken, and some salad.

Once docked, the real road trip began. The weather was shite...not too bad between Tsawwassen and Hope...a little rain here and there. It's a pain in the ass getting from highway 17 to highway 1 via highway 10, but we managed it...Sarah claims to have a better route and I will try it next time I find myself headed in that direction. We hit the Whatcom Rd Petro-Can for fuel...always the best price on gas (80.9 minus 3.5 cents with my petro-points card). We stocked up on candy and drinks too. The P5 did well on the road, and Tree and Rol only got scared a few times when I hit some puddles and waggled the back end a bit. The rain poured on and off over the Coquihalla and on 97C, and there was fog in spots, but we managed to arrive in one piece.

We had intended on camping, but the weather licked balls so we thought about getting a hotel room. Once we met up with Court and the Rev, we were offered half price rooms at the Holiday Inn thanks to the Entertainment Books of the Rev...so we booked in there and got a room for Choy and Michelle as well. I thought Choy and Michelle were gonna be mad at us cause we cancelled camping and they love their camping (and travelling cheap). Choy seemed annoyed at first, but I think he enjoyed staying in the hotel and having pool access, and not camping in the rain. I goofed when I told them the cost, cause I misunderstood (rather, didn't really pay full attention) when we booked in and thought that the cost for 1 night was actually the cost for both nights. Again, Choy and Michelle didn't get angry with me (not to my face anyways) and all seemed good (just a little more expensive).

So Car #2 arrived 6 hours after we arrived and we were all there. Saturday morning comes around and the ceremony is at 10am (who has a wedding at 10am??). We all got up on time and were pretty much ready when we needed to be. Drove into Kelowna and got close to where the ceremony was to be, then found a place for breakfast. We ended up eating at the Pantry and had about half an hour to do so (there were 7 of us). We got in, ordered, waited, decided we were gonna really have to wolf it down and get out quick. I was ready with the credit card so there weren't any hassles with paying the bill. When the food arrived, we all dug in...I think I ate my plate of Eggs Benedict and hashbrowns inside of 2 minutes. Amazingly, we got out of there in time (I think everyone finished) and got to the Guisachan House for the ceremony on time (and still had time to wait around...in the light rain).

Ceremony was fine...it was very holy. The audio setup was decent, but could have been better. For a truly good wedding audio setup, each person speaking needs to have their own mic...and know how to talk on it. Ceremony finished, and we had some time to kill. Went back to the hotel (the Holiday Inn Express if you must know) and decided what to do. Choy, Michelle and Rol went in the hot tub, while Q&S, Tree, and I went to Mission Hill to check out the winery. It's a very cool building, very big and palacial almost. We sampled some wines...I preferred the whites that we tried...not a big red wine fan (although I don't hate it). The weather was lame, so we didn't check out the outside too much.

Reception was at 1:30 at a church, so we got there on time, and commandeered a table somewhere in the centre. The MC was a little lame...he had these jokes that had no relevance to the wedding, but oh well. Food was good...caesar salad, greek salad, pita bread, rice, chicken & pork on a stick. The only thing missing was some tzatziki sauce. Dessert was fruit and chocolate fondue...and then wedding cake, which was quite good. We made a rule that if you dropped your fruit in the fondue, you had to kiss the person to your right (on the cheek). Q had to kiss Choy at one point...and he did! Michelle had to kiss me after that, and she did (but not after putting chocolate on her lips to leave a nice chocolate kiss mark). Speeches were made and then it was over. Apparently you can't dance in a Baptist Church.

So we had the whole evening to do other stuff. Rol, Tree, and I had a nap. Choy and Michelle went to Michelle's Dad's place for a bit, and Q&S had dinner with Q's grandpa who they were staying with. Court and Chris said they'd meet up with us later and hang out. Well, we were all pretty lazy until about 8:30 when we finally got going, had some dinner, and all met up again. Court and Chris did show up, with all her brothers and a few other people as well. We got some booze and hung out in one of the hotel rooms. I mingled alright, talked to a few people. Inappropriate jokes were told and laughs were had. I believe one of the funnier moments was when Sarah came back from the bathroom with her fly open and I asked if she was selling hot dogs. Her response of, "am I selling hot dogs?" just seemed to have a certain ring to it and the room erupted in laughter...not at anyone's expense really...just in general.

Sunday we got up earlier than necessary (partly thanks to Rol who just came into the room and played games on his phone). We were to meet with Court and Chris and The Rev at A&W for breakfast, but before then we went for a swim and a hot tub, and got our gear sorted out for the check-out and ride home. Got to A&W on time and had our breaky with The Rev. The Q&S-mobile left for home after that, and the P5 hung out a bit longer with Court and Chris. We went to a car show down in Kelowna. It was cool, there was quite a few cars and trucks, new and old, shiny and not-so-shiny. Cars just don't do it for me anymore though really. We said our goodbyes and headed out about 1pm.

The drive home was much dryer and hotter. Again, the P5 did well. Filled up at Whatcom Rd again...even cheaper this time. Had some Burger King to tide me over to the ferry. Tried to take Sarah's route to get to highway 17 easier, but 176th St (which I'm pretty sure is the road she told me to take, and looks good to take on the map) was a dead end. We could have gone down any number of other streets I'm sure, but highway 10 was looking pretty decent and we hit mostly green lights, so it didn't matter much. We caught the 6pm ferry, which is what we aimed for...so it worked out anyway. Played some poker on the ferry and I won (although it was just for fun). Got home and that was the weekend.

All in all a good trip. It was good to see Court, although I really didn't have much to talk to her about (and I never really have anything to talk to Chris about). I think I put myself in the role of trip organizer...sort of. I don't know if people liked that or what. It seemed to work for our car at least. I didn't want to organize too much, nor did I want to delegate or boss people around. It just seemed that sometimes an executive decision needed to be made. I hope everyone had fun. I'd like to do a road trip where there's no purpose...as in no wedding to be at at a certain time. Just a trip that requires no planning and where anything can happen. That would be fun.

Ok, that's that. Heather and Brent are supposed to be here...wonder where they are?

I did well at soccer the other night. My kick was off for the first while...but then I found it and I scored me about 5 or 6 goals! Not that they were really skilled kicking goals...most were just that 2 of us were on the goalie and the goalie was drawn out and the ball came my way and it gained control and rolled it into the net. The final goal of the game, scored by yours truly, was kinda cool. I got myself setup in front and Dave brought the ball up the field. I can't remember if he faked a kick at the goal, but he was being hassled by someone on the other team. Dave got the ball rolling in my direction and I got ready to line it up and have a shot. Yeech bolted past with hopes of taking the ball from me, but I was in mid-kick by the time he got to me and he wasn't able to get the ball. My foot did catch his shin and he went flying off to the side...but I wasn't paying attention to that. The ball was headed for the net and it bounced off the side of the right post and ricochet'd into the left side of the net. Yay! It was a fun game.

I had dinner with lavalife chick tonight. We went to Baan Thai. It was good...I had never been there before. We got along well and didn't seem to have too much trouble carrying a conversation (there were a couple of brief lulls).

I like Denis Leary. Mike says he ripped off some of his act from Bill Hicks...and I agree. But it doesn't matter to me...I still like his cynicism and comedy and crassness. Season 2 of Rescue Me is coming soon...although I don't think Showcase will have it for a while. It's not the greatest show, but it's somewhat enjoyable.

Why the fuck do people care about the Michael Jackson trial/verdict? Everything with celebrities just gets blown outta proportion. Whether or not the guy is truly guilty...he's a fuckin freakshow and the name Wacko Jacko is SO appropriate. People should not be giving this guy any more attention.

I love my new shirt...it's a good colour and it says, "Who Needs Books When You Got T.V.". I'm gonna wear it to work everyday!

I had a date yesterday with a girl I met on lava (girl isn't really the correct term as she's 29, but saying woman or lady just makes her sound too old...I think). We walked down by Clover Point. She's nice, I like her. We began emailing earlier in the week an yesterday was our the first time we met. We seem to have quite a few similar interests and points of view.

Earlier yesterday I went for brunch with Q&S, Polly, and a couple of Sarah's friends from the mainland (Jen and Alicia). We hit Floyd's...finally. It was awesome...I love that place. very casual, the staff are "hip" and easy going. The adventure started out well because as soon as we were seated a server (possibly even the owner) came up with a plate of eggs benedict with pan fries and asked if we wanted it as an appy because they'd made a mistake (whoever ordered it wanted the hollandaise on the side...and they'd poured it all over the eggs). We graciously accepted and dug in. Very good (except for the mushrooms). We proceeded to chuckle over the menu as we read the comical descriptions of each of the items available. I went for the Mahoney which is very unique to Floyd's. Basically the kitchen cooks you whatever they feel like (I specified no tomatoes, mushrooms, or seafood)...it could be that they have a surplus of something that hasn't been ordered much that day, or maybe they screwed someone else's order up (like we experienced earlier), or maybe they want to experiment with something new (which is brilliant because they can experiment to their hearts content under the whole Mahoney premise). I received an omelette with red peppers, spinach, pesto, green onions, and bacon, plus pan fries and toast (rye or some other dark whole grain type bread). It was excellent. But that's not all! No, with the Mahoney, you have the option to pay for your meal (whatever they determined it was worth) or flip a coin. If you win the coin flip, you pay nothing, if you lose, you pay double. Of course I went for the flip...and I won! Free breaky for the Planman...oh yeah! I will be back to Floyd's for more Mahoney action...you can count on that.

One other topic I'd like to touch on before I go. I went to the DMV (or ICBC Driver Services as we call it here...but the DMV is so much easier to say and write) on Saturday while I was killing time. I figured they'd be open...but of course they weren't. Their hours, according to the door, were Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 4:30. How stupid is that? How is anyone who works a 9 to 5 shift supposed to get their licence renewed (that's what I needed to get done BTW)?? Aside from the Coast Capital in Sooke, the DMV on Mackenzie and Borden is the only place I know of in Victoria when this can be done. I'm lucky as I don't work until 4...so I can make it. I think it's fucking bullshit though...they should be open late at least a couple nights a week, and Saturday's would be smart.

I was kicked outta the house yesterday for 8 hours cause we got sprayed for silverfish. I'd only ever seen 2 down in my suite, but apparently they'd seen more upstairs. It wasn't a big deal being kicked out...just slightly annoying not being able to come into the house to grab something. I checked out Buccaneer Days (Esquimalt's annual community celebration)...it was kinda lame. I was wearing jeans, but it got to be hot, and since I couldn't go back to the house to get a pair of shorts, I went to Sears and bought a pair. 40% off, plus I needed a new pair of shorts...so it all worked out. I like them...they are orange (I was in need of some new station colours). I went for a drive to someplace I'd never been...Cadboro Bay. Quite nice...sorta like East Sooke, but much closer to town. I'm sure the homes there are incredibly expensive. I didn't see many 'for sale' signs (if any). Ended up at Elk Lake walking the 10Km loop around it...very nice trail, I had never been on it before. It was a day of discovery in my own home town.

Grandma wasn't feeling well and I got a call from mom to pick her up and take her to a clinic...so did that and waited around for a couple hours. I was gonna write a post on how some people seem to run to the doctor for every little thing, but I can't do that now because this actually turned out to be something and she had to go on antibiotics...so I will forgo that post, even though there is some truth to it.

Played poker in the evening, even got Dad and Gord to come out for it. It was a good game, with $120 available for first place. I finished 4th, just out of the money...but Gord cleaned up and took first, so there is promise for the Planman's! I got taken on pocket aces (again)...this time by my own brother. The second time I went head to head with him I won though...so he didn't bully me all the time.

So far a decent weekend. We'll see how Sunday goes and maybe there will be more to write about.

I cannot keep a white shirt clean. It's a fact!

I scored one goal at soccer last night. Not a bad game...although all the newsies bailed on us. We haven't had a good turnout from VI News lately...mostly us Master Ops and ferry people. Oh well, it's still a game to play.

I'm losing my work partner of the last 11 months. The Yeech is moving up in the world...3 floors up to be exact. He was offered and took a job in the traffic department. Congratulations to him! Hopefully the hours work out better for him, and the work is challenging enough to keep his mind from going numb. Not sure who will be taking his place beside me during primetime, but I have an idea. It should all work out well for the station.

I just heard a cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit done by Paul Anka. It was good...interesting. I love the lounge covers of rock songs...such a different way to experience the songs. Pat Boone has a good classic rock covers CD.

I was listening to some AC/DC yesterday, talking the lyrics as Bon sang them...it was kinda cool to talk the lyrics out. I was thinking it might be a cool idea to write a play based on the works of AC/DC...we'll see where I go with this.

"And the singer turned and he said to the crowd, 'Let There Be Rock!'" - Bon Scott, AC/DC

I saw Revenge of the Sith last night with Rol and Katie. What did I think? Hmmm...well it was on par with all the other Star Wars I've seen...how do you write the sound of putting your tongue between your lips and flapping it rapidly whilst holding out your right arm clenching a fist and aiming your extended thumb in a downward direction? Something like...plllllllllllllllllla. Maybe a bit longer...pllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllla.

Ya, that's about it. I'm not a Star Wars fan...although I felt a desire to see them all in the theatre. I'm not even a real fan of episodes 4 through 6...although Empire and Jedi aren't too bad. Episode 3 was no better than any of the others, despite what people have been saying. I think people just wanted it to be better and have it set in their mind that it is. It had the same amount of bad acting and lame effects that they all have. I've seen better CG in independent films with a budget of about 0.1% what Star Wars had. Sure, Star Wars has some good CG...most of it is CG...but they didn't spend enough time on some parts and it shows.

I was almost impressed by how Lucas made sure everything tied in and would lead into Episode 4 nicely...but then I remembered that he had it all figured out (more or less) way back even before episode 4 was made. So not that impressive.

The best moment? Whilst walking out of the theatre, a child walking behind us...probably no older than 10...says unto his father, "I guess we have to wait for the 4th one now". HaHa!

Hi Choy.

Man, it's been something of an active weekend...it's been good. Got up earlier than usual yesterday to go mountain biking with Reed. I suck at mountain biking...but at least I try. I'm slowly getting better (meaning more daring). i don't get so scared when going over drop offs and big bumps and such...I'm holding my own on those. Not always though...I don't like it when there isn't much room to roll off after going down something where I'm going to build up a touch of speed. I've finally got it sorted out as to which handle controls the back brake...so that's good. Front brake is not so good when mountain biking...especially when going over drops and down lots of rocks. I've gone over and almost gone over the handle bars a few times. The worst is when you're on a narrow section of trail and you fuck up and have to get off the bike (or the bike is falling over and you need to set your foot down to stop yourself...or worse when you can't get your foot down cause your half upside down already) and because the trail is narrow you have no place to put your foot and you start to tumble down the side of the mountain, trying to stop yourself without looking too silly. It works sometimes. Anyways...yes, mountain biking. I've discovered that I can fit my bike in the back of my car...so that is useful.

After biking, got cleaned up and went sailing on Rol's boat with Rol, Reed, and Polly. We had some good wind and had the boat up to around 6 knots...which is pretty good. We hit Sidney Island and tied up to the dock for a bit. I've never been to the island...it was nice. There's camping there...I think we'll have to camp there sometime. Coming back was really fast (cause I was driving)...we made awesome time going down wind and the weather got nicer too.

In the evening, work had booked the beach volleyball courts on top of the Sticky Wicket, so I attended amongst some co-workers (the Station Manager was even there) and eventually played a game...which was quite fun. I had sand in many places when I got home...but not quite as bad as actually going to a beach. I managed to fanagle 2 free drinks from the social committee, and there were free nachos...so it was a cheap evening...which is what I like. I did buy a few beers a little later on, but no biggie.

Mountain biked again this morning...this time with Rol, Reed, and Reed's friend Jose. Again I sucked it up, but oh well. There were some girl bikers that we saw a few times on the trail...they were nice.

That's where it's at now. I think we're going to see Return of the Sith tonight.

Wednesday, June 01, 2005

Good turnout for soccer last night...although we're losing many of our VI players and it's becoming more of a ferry workers game. There was a lot of running and kicking and such, although I didn't get too tired which was cool. I managed to score 1 of the 10 or so goals my team slid past the opposing goalie...I setup a couple of others, so I feel my contribution was ok. I didn't play goal at all, and I think that was a good thing. There was a couple of Italian (I think) guys that came with someone and they were skilled players. We made sure both of them weren't on the same team. It was a fun time.

I haven't gotten much accomplished in the last while. People ask me what's new and I got nothin'. It's pretty sad. I need to do something so that I have something to say when people ask what's new.
